All Kaya! 9 Entries

Talk about starting the new year right. Seems to me like everyone is bent on keeping their resolutions, like joining all the Kaya! challenges. And so far, so good. Everyone has been very participative and creative. Congratulations on another layout done and thanks to all of you for joining.

Of course, many thanks to this month's challenger, Sheryl, who put out a very good challenge, one that got us thinking of at least three wishes that we really really want to come true this year. Remember that at the end of the year, Sheryl will be giving a special prize to the person who had the most number of listed wishes come true. So work on making those wishes realities, guys.

So feast your eyes on these beauties. I am pretty sure it's gonna be darned difficult to choose just one favorite this month. To find out more about each layout, simply click on the title.

About ME:
I'm new to this hobby, just started early this year. I try to scrap most of my free time. I am currently working for a public accounting firm so the time during December to April is a very busy time for me, meaning less time to scrap! I love the works of Ali Edwards, Jessica Sprague, Susan Weinroth, Iris, Ria, Pia, CH, and a whole lot of the members of SE and PS. Most of layouts are about my friends, family, and me and boyfriend of almost 10 years, Ivan. I am also very interested in photography and plan to join a beginners class in the near future. I hope I'd get to know you all and attend the EBs hopefully if its close to Quezon City. Do visit me at my blog http://scrapgurl14.blogspot.com.

3 Wishes from the Heart

Rianne says, KAYA!

It's my first time to submit an LO! Good thing there was an extension and I had a little extra time today. I can't help but feel that the LO feels so sophomoric compared the artistic stuff posted here, but this is me, simple and straightforward, with just a little embellishment. And it was really such a reward just to finish it! It was so hard because I hate having my solo picture taken, it was so hard to find one.

Journaling:
For 2008:
1. A meaningful and beautiful wedding
2. Successful treatment for ((sorry I have to blur this out))
3. To finally finish the heritage album

Materials Used:
Laura's Pocket papers, stitching, and alpha, from Debbie Fisher; Peppermint Creative decorative corner; Vintage Artistry metal embellishment; Dream Orphans, French Script and BudNull fonts downloaded from the web

Techniques Used:
Layering, drop shadows, airbrush, color replacement

About ME:
Hi, I'm Rianne, I work as an analyst and part-time as a writer, and I'm finally getting married this year (after "A Very Long Engagement")! I started scrapbooking in some form in college, although I didn't know about acid-free stuff. It wasn't until a couple of years ago when my friend made me a mini-book gift when I left my former office that I got interested because the acid-free papers were really cute. Right now I'm dabbling in digital scrapbooking since I spend so much time in front of the computer anyway--and most of our pictures are only in digital form. Still, that doesn't stop me from hoarding! I hope to become more active here and in the mailing list, all while doing wedding preps! I'm at http://casualscrapper.blogspot.com and we are at http://wavewedding08.weddingannouncer.com.

Au says, KAYA!

hahaha...ok, take 2...good thing this was a digi LO or i might not have time to edit. i forgot that i should use a black/white photo. i submitted one with a colored photo which i like better so i am putting it here just for exposure...hehehe...officially, my entry is the big one below.

i do believe wishes can come true especially if we take steps to make them a reality. creative visualization, as one can call this particular Kaya challenge is definitely a small yet significant step towards it. i was quite enthusiatic about making an entry for my wishes. the most difficult part was trimming them down to 3...and finding the time to do the layout. luckily, there's digital. so here is one of my rare attempts at it.

Journaling:
Find the time to exercise so i can get fit and healthier
- i wanna be able to do yoga regularly
Be able to drive my own car
- i must have the means to buy my dream SUV even if pre-owned
Find the time and space to be more in touch with my spiritual life
- i need to get back to doing my daily meditation and practice

Materials/Techniques used:
Adobe Photoshop CS2, various freebie digital kits: Tia Bennett Spring Time Fever stamp frame, Michelle Coleman (Scrapartist.com) Fall Splendor kit, Shabby Princess Sweet Serenity alphabets, fonts: Facelift, Dead Postman Typewriter, Hannibal Lecter

Since i had to re-edit to make the photo B/W and it does not match the papers, i made the photo layer even more transparent so the paper below will show thru. Opacity controls is at 30%

About Me:
Au Lim : I don't really consider myself a digital scrapbooker. Being one to be in front of the computer all day due to work and some leisure, the thought of scrapping digitally is not very appealing to me. I like the feel of touching real paper then cutting and glueing them down. However, with the new generation of hybrid products and scrapbookers cropping up, i can't help but be drawn to it. The new digital products that now match real paper and embellies are oh so lovely. Couple that with a quicker way to respond to challenges like these makes for a better case to spend more time in front of my trusty computer. If you have the time, please visit me at auscraps.blogspot.com and auwashere.blogspot.com. I also currently design for the first kit club in the Philippines, Studio Azul. Yup, life is cool.

Beth's 3 Wishes

Beth says, KAYA!

Since I stopped working, my life revolved around family and scrapbooking.

Good Health
Family Cohesion
Scrapbooking Stuff

Hidden Journaling:

1) Good Health

I wish for good health for all my loved ones especially my dad who’s turning 83 this March. I know my Dad’s sick as he has been having fainting spells every now and then. But he’s so hard headed that he won’t go to the doctor for a diagnosis. And it breaks my heart to hear him say that at his age, he’s ready to go. It’s me who’s not yet ready to lose another loved one as my only sibling has had a violent death only two years ago. I wish that my Dad still lives through 2008.

2) Family Cohesion

3) Scrapbooking Stuff

About ME:
I’ve had a purely retail professional experience of more than 20 years before I stopped working March of 2006. So far, I have not considered going back to work as I’m enjoying my new role as stay-at-home wife to Raffy and mom to Erika (9). I graduated from UP Diliman with a degree in BS Industrial Engineering. I discovered about scrapbooking only through the internet. I used to be involved in cross stitching and candlemaking before I learned about this craft. I began collecting scrapbooking supplies and tools late 2006 but only started making layouts early this year. I used to wonder why scrappers would still subscribe to expensive scrapbooking magazines when there are a lot of materials in the web. I found the answer to this question after I bought my first magazine, the Top 10 issue of CK. I also enjoy shopping for patterned papers but would rather look at them than use them. Scrapbooking relaxes me. It also complements my love for taking photos of everything.
