Inspired by my sister's wedding pictorial pose I decided to make my own version.

I just stamped the the title and stamped the words upside
down to simulate the mirror image effect.

About ME:
I am Leira kidnapped and married to my captor Philbert who will forever be paying the ransom. SAHM to Joshwa and a coming addition to our family.I started scrapbooking in November 2003. I would describe my style that is leaning towards simple scrapbooking simply because I have so much to do and have little time to make my LO's complicated.

After seeing all the beautiful entries of the talented members of PS, I must admit I was intimidated. I almost did not want to submit any entry because for almost 2 weeks I felt an anxiety attack creeping in. LOL. Eventually, I remembered our motto and told myself I shouldn't be competiting with anybody else but myself. This blog was initially conceptualized to motivate ourselves to overcome our barriers and allow us to spread our wings. Using Becky Fleck's June 2006 Page Map sketch, below is my attempt to overcome my fear of stamping. I hope you like it.


Journaling Reads:
This picture is begging to be scrapped simply because you looked adorable in it.

Materials Used:
Daisy D's Playground Plaid and Sidewalk Chalk Plaid pps; Heidi Swapp Hibiscus foam stamp; Memory Makers Magnetic Stamp (Rummage); Craft Express chipboard alphabet; Imaginations Camp Grandma stickers.

Other Materials:
Simply Scrappy Circle Template; Acrylic paint; Pigment Ink; Embossing powder; Ribbons; Colored staple wire.

Techniques:
1. Cut out the scalloped edge using the smallest circle in Simply Scrappy's circle template.
2. Lightly pencil a circle outline and use it as a guide for foam stamping the hibiscus flowers using acrylic paint. Then attach the picture w/c was outlined w/ white acrylic paint and stamp the corner w/ more hibiscus flowers.
3. Paint the chipboard alphabet with lavender acylic paint. Let it dry and attach w/ liquid glue to the page.
4. Use alphabet stickers to spell out the sub-title.
5. Use pigment ink and alphabet rubber stamp for the journaling. Then sprinkle w/ embossing powder and set w/ heat gun.
6. For the finishing touch, attach 3 different ribbons using colored staple wire.

About ME:
Been scraplifting since April of this year and happily contented about it. I've never been as productive and creative as when I embraced this approach. It helps me get started and propel me to finish an LO in no time. As Jana Lillie puts it in Creative Keepsakes, "(scraplifting is) the art of taking someone else's good idea for a page, accent or technique and adapting it for your own creation. You look like a genius - and you don't have to break a sweat. What's not to love?" I totally agree :D (Thanks for the quote, Lee)

When I saw the challenge for this month I was very excited and had this idea of using most of my stamps. I'm into stamping nowadays but haven't maximized their potential yet. Anyway I had fun doing this LO because I had the chance to finally play with my stamps. The sketch was inspired by CK's content page, which is a challenge posted by Paula at CK.

Techniques Used:
Background cs- stamped assorted leaves using VersaMark watermark, (clear stamp unknown).
Blue square - stamped upsy daisy flowers and MM foam stamp for the stems, stamped words on small tags (using masking tehnique) and attached with flower brads.
Orange square - stamped Hero Arts letters for "July", "2007" with other stamps, butterfly from upsy daisy and then handcut, accented with gems and attached using foam squares.
Yellow flower - stamped Hero Arts border stamps on yellow cs, cut into strips and formed into a flower attached with MM brad (as seen in BHG Scrapbooks mag).
Pink label - stamped with Heidi Swapp clear shapes and "Love Ya" from MM magnetic stamps, heart from Hero Arts.
Green frame - stamped Bam Pop Classy frame, and "All natural beauty" stamp by Rhonna, heat embossed.
Swirl photo corners - MM foam stamps, handcut and accented with gems.

"Us" chipboards - stamped with Autumn Leaves swirl stamp, heat embossed.
Wordings - stamped using MM magnetic stamps, stamped border using other clear stamps.

Hi! I'm Marix, single and currently working as a Systems Analyst in Singapore. I've been scrapbooking since highschool but never knew such a term ever existed. Back then I've been using magazines to cut out titles and images and used the magnetic albums which sadly are all not acid free. I only discovered the term scrapbooking and acid free in 2004 and have been doing it since then. It was on and off until I became addicted to it last year. I scraplift, use sketches and find inspiration through advertisements. I'm a traditional scrapper and haven't tried digital yet. This page was inspired by one I saw in CK. I don't feel quite satisfied with how this page turned out.... but I guess I'll have to be content with it for now (read: no time to scrap, lol!)

As I was going about my chores, I chanced upon the both of you entertaining yourselves, blowing bubbles and watching as they were blown away, out of your reach, by the gentle breeze.

Why Did You Grow Up So Fast

A mother’s lament: “Why did you grow up so fast?” My son and I actually have this ongoing dialogue about why he’s growing up too fast and who says that he could do so. He would catch on and just say, “I’m not a baby anymore… My yaya said I should grow up." Or even, "I’m big na.”

I took this picture of my DS on his first day of classes this school year. He’s grown to be quite independent and insisted on putting on his own shoes.

About ME:
I’m a SAHM. I retired in 2000 after slaving it out in the corporate world for 16 (fruitful) years. Used to be a badminton freak. About ME:

Am a working mom who just realized I will never be a domestic goddess and happy about the fact. :-) Mama to Lilaa and Maia, wife to my one big love. Rekindled my love affair with Scrapbooking in May 2006, this time using acid-free/lignin-free/PVC-free materials and is quite obssessed about it. I love the freedom of creation that scrapbooking brings. It allows creative license and at the same time, it affords me to record, in a very creative and delightful manner, my family's memories to last more than a lifetime. i have 4 kids but you might notice why it is always Aetom (my 3rd son) on my layouts, it's because he loves to pose! with the 3, you still have to lure them...anyway, this layout was taken on the summer of 2007. our treasures are our children, no matter how hard it is to take care of them, there is always a feeling of satisfaction at the end of the day.

1. i used heidi grace stamps on the chipboard and handmade cardstock-ed flower.
2. painted the frame with lil davis acrylic, used various doodle stamps (paper salon) and embossed.
3. flower foam stamp was used, doodled and accented with a brad.
4. handmade flower with stamp and crystals.
5. chipboard glazed and stamped.

about me:

Where is . . .

My family is often tired of the long wait for me whenever we arrive at the airport of our destination, all because of my passport picture. I swear, the picture is worse in person thank goodness this is virtual!

Journaling:
WHERE IS...Kristine?..." Asks the immigration officer at the Changi Airport in Singapore. "Uuum, I'M Kristine." I say carefully. "Ooohhhh ..." he says quietly as he reaches for his inkpad.

CHINA, March 2005:
"Where is Kristine?" Asks the Chinese immigration officer, his eyes passing me as if I didn't belong standing infront of his desk. It couldn't have been the language barrier but the immigration officer was taking unusually long staring at my passport.
Finally I couldn't help myself "Doesn't look like me?" I ask, "No." he says directly and approves my entry to Shanghai.

HONGKONG, December 2006:
"Where is Kristine?" Asks the immigration officer at the Hongkong International Airport. I raise my hand and smile.
"WHOOAAAA!!!" sayd the immigration officer as he kept on looking at my passport and back at me. He gives me a sly smile and once again, I hear the familiar soft thud of the immigration stamp.

50 pounds and 6 years ago, I had never felt better (or looked better!) as I do now ... but I couldn't say the same about my passport picture. Each time I enter a country, its airport always welcomed me with three words ... "Where is Kristine?"

Wherever it may be it's always the same question and the same confused expression of its immigration officers. I find it amusing but at the same time i'm torn if I should be flattered or fear I could be detained due to falsification of documents!

1. Background paper: used compass stamp and inked it with bleach. This works best with dark colored paper.
2. Acrylic Frame: used Stazon ink on stamps and directly stamped on acrylic frame.
3. Acrylic Brackets: used Brilliance ink with crackle stamp
4. Vellum: stamped images behind vellum to create a soft background yet journaling is still visible.
5. Embossing: used Versamark (pigment) ink with ultrafine gold embossing powder on Mouth image directly on vellum, alongside journaling.
6. Stitching: cutout postcard images, arranged and stamped stitched imaged in random areas

About ME:
I've proven that the only thing that stays the same, is change. We've all gone through our own experiences of sadness and pain. But more so, is the joy and peace at the end of every trial. I welcome every change in my life, the tears, the laughter, yes even the weight gain (and loss!) and the constant movement in not just my life but others as well. Kaya! Three

Kayang-kaya kaya?

Our ancestors have used stamps, mostly using wood, leather and even mud. The earliest forms of inking was to use plants and even the colored juice of fruits; added to which stamping was used for documents, fabric, and other products that will take on ink of any kind.

We may not give it much thought but we use stamping techniques in our layouts more often than not, such as inking edges and even masking among others. If you look back into your earliest memories of kindergarden, cut outs from potatoes and carrots, sponges and even crumpled newspaper dabbed in some ink was virtually our stamps. You may have already been stamping at the age of 3 and haven't even realized it yet!

And so, this month we take our challenge to the next level and dwell into the world of stamping. Kaya 3 is called, " IMPRESS US " and the challenge is to incorporate stamping into your layouts.

For those who have yet to build their collection of stamps or don't have any, have no fear! You can use anything that will hold ink and an image, such as using your cats eye ink pad as your "stamp," use sponges, mask paper, rocks, leaves, etc. There are no limits! For as long as you use an "image," whether it's the latest Fancy Pants stamp or the texture of the rock in your garden. So roll up your sleeves and keep an eye out for that stamp you haven't used in ages or for that wonderful textured leaf and ink up!

Guidelines:
Stamping --- is impressing an image on any surface (glass, cardstock, clay, leather, etc.) using ready made or homemade stamps using any form of coloring such as inkpads, acrylic paints, homemade ink (tea, food coloring, bleach, etc.).

1. Stamp images on your medium of choice, using any coloring agent such as inkpads, paints, even homemade recipes like coffee, tea, etc.
2. Any technique is allowed, such as (any but not limited to) direct to paper, embossing, masking, use of UTEE, etc.
3. There is no limit to the number of images you can use.
4. You can use either or both ready made and homemade stamps.
5. For this challenge, all layouts must be TRADITIONAL layouts only.
6. Layouts must be in 12x12 sizes.
7. If you're feeling highly productive, not to worry, there is NO limit to the number of submissions for the challenge.

Deadline of submissions is on July 28, Saturday. Voting for favorites on July 29 and 30. Announcement of favorite on July 31.
