Almost Forty

Lee says, KAYA!

Two and a half hours before the big 4-0. I always knew I would do a layout commemorating my moving from the thirties to the forties. Initially, I wanted to title it "39 and still holding." But then I realized, I am not really afraid of turning forty. If it weren't for the traditions of being with family, friends, and blowing candles on top of a birthday cake (Mrs. Yulo's chocolate cake, preferably), June 3 would just be another day to live, love and laugh.

Journaling Reads:
I look in the mirror and I see the Beauty of Youth fading...and then I look around me and I see the Beauty of Life becoming clearer. Lee - on the eve of my 40th bday. (Paraphrase of Jane Richards)

Materials Used:
Fabriano black CS, Die Cuts with a View PPS, Bazzill flower, American Crafts Thickers, white Uni-ball Signo pen, gren ric rac, AAS flower brad, Fiskars scallop templare, Colorbox black and green inks, wooden flower, refrigerator magnet.

Techniques Used:
Alot of introspection, I woke up at 5:30 this morning after only three hours of sleep and just started planning things around in my head. I am not really into complicated techniques as I am still learning. So really, this is just a lot of cutting, adhering and some inking and paper tearing. I'd like to be as profound as Jenn and say that I chose the color green because it means life and growth. But I have to be honest, it's the only color where I have a selection of flowers and stickers. I also covered the middle of the wooden flower with green CS as it was a light brown. The PS blog police might count that as another color. :-)

About ME:
Forty is the new thirty! I am now preparing a list of 40 things to do before I turn 50. So far, my list includes, to see the pyramids, the Louvre, the Angkor Wat, the Vatican and the northern lights, swim or more accurately, float in the Dead Sea, study abroad, and much closer to home, learn how to drive, visit Batanes, swim with the whales in Donsol, and, learn to cook dishes that my KiDS would actually eat. And oh, yes, get published in an international scrapbooking magazine.

Turning 40 does not give you the freedom to bend the rules (hehe)! Great LO! I like the pic you used.

I never did ask how old you are... but I think 40 is not bad at all. If you ask me, a more interesting question would be "how old do you feel?" Isang tanong ko lang, if you are sitting infront of the mirror, who's taking the picture? Love the concept ha... ang dating sa akin: the different sides of Lee :D

Hi Lee. I love your birthday lay-out. Galing-galing mo na friend! Make that list na & let's compare. Sama ako sa Pyramids :)

I'm writing this in Iligan. Been a tough week at work. Looking forward to Sunday so I can destress by watching you all scrap... Am not sure though if may natitira pa sa creative juices ko... :( Will just drool a little at your great works...

Lee, I dare say, 40 is the new 20!!! HAhahahaha! (this, because I am turning 40 myself in the next few years and I don't feel a day over 20, LOL!!!) Love your list of things to do.... go for it! oops, sorry - I should be commenting on your page... :)

Love how you were able to use that PP (I think I have that sitting somewhere in my stash because I don't know what to do with it, thanks for the inspiration!). I love your journaling/quote and I love that photo!

this layout is so special not because of your coming of age, heheheh. but because the closer we are to that age, the better we get. i love the pics inside the framey thing. ang cute and classy! parang nasa mirror talaga ha.. galing! and your flower ppr is definitely a striking appendage to your layout. parang paa e nuh.

Dear Lee,

Age doesn't matter. You don't look like 40. I thought you were younger than me. Btw, heart does matter I can see that you have the heart for serving.

God Bless.

Hi lee! Great LO! The photo of your LO really unifies the whole theme :-) and besides, age is just a number, how you live it is what really counts right :-)
