Lee says, KAYA!
When I wondered out loud what my favorite thing could be, my son Diego immediately replied - the TV. Yes, I will have to admit that I was weaned on Sesame Street and Electric Company, and a day without TV is almost like, well, a day without chocolate. So here's my take on one of the greatest inventions of the 19th century.
Journaling:
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...TV viewers actually had to stand up and twist a knob on their TV set to change the channel. Today, thanks to the brilliant minds that invented the remote control, couch potatoes like me do not have to move a muscle to change the channel.
All of us in our house love our TV but we love the remote control the best. Not only does it make it easy for us to channel surf, but s/he who holds the remote has power over what to watch. Thus, everytime they get the chance, Diego hides it in a place only he knows. Sarah walks around with it under her kili-kili. And Kahlo tucks it under her waist band. Me? I just claim parental authority and hold the remote like it was my very own sceptre.
Materials/Techniques Used:
Basic Grey Motifica (Chalk and Jade); white cardstock. Downloaded screen shots of our favorite TV shows from the internet. Alot of cutting and pasting, and arguments from the KiDS as to which show should be displayed prominently.
About ME:
Blissfully married to a sculptor/painter, with three KiDS - Kahlo (5), Diego (9) and Sarah (7). Until recently I worked as the Grants Administrator of an international philanthropic organization. Now enjoying life far from the maddening crowd. My husband is encouraging me to pursue my doctorate so I might be a UP student again this coming June. I did some old-school scrapping in college. I was given my very first acid-free scrapbooking materials in October 2004, started buying more in May 2005, and finally started scrapping again last May 2006. I still have much to do and learn from fellow scrappers, so you can say my style is a work in progress. (Learn more about me at www.pinayscrapper.blogspot.com)

wow lee...this one is really great! i loved your catch-phrase, "the one that holds the remote rules the world." i didn't think of making a layout of our TV, probably because it is I who owns the remote control in our house, therefore I find it no competition between us siblings. =)
ganda ng idea mo ah? clap clap clap!!!
ay, wala pang layout si nita...kelan natin invade scrap materials niya? hehehehe
Hay naku, kaya naman pala huli ang LO mo lee . . . as Ienne would say, i LUURRRVE it! I find it very freestyle, which i am partial to :-) and as always your journaling is very witty :-)
Lee, i just like how you did this LO. I'm imagining how long have u searched for the shots of the shows, cut and paste them. Truly creative and patient! Love your journaling - very funny.
Sorry po nahuli ang LO, medyo naging busy getting the blog smoothly running (excuses, excuses). Thanks for your comments. Freestyle na pala ito? Ang alam ko lang magulo. Which I really intended, to show information overload. Hahaha.
Ella - well, took just about an hour to get the screen shots. I had to interview the KiDS kung ano favorite shows nila. Nakalimutan ko nga favorite shows ni hubby sa National Geographic and Discovery.
Hi Lee, like the idea na parang 'slice of life' ni cathy z. :-) sometimes, we occupy ourselves with the big picture when the small, ordinary ones are just as essential. Good job on this one. Parang gusto ko na bumalik sa traditional scrapbooking hihihihi
ang galing ng idea mo to put all the shows na gusto ng buong family. i have to read/look twice i thought nag-digi ka rin! how did u do ALL that photos? printed 'em at home? great work lee!
hi lee! great LO. reminds me of my childhood days. how I hated being the youngest kasi walang karapatan sa remote. Hahaha! your title is so correct.
wahahahah!!! i love this idea! sa amin, si hubby ang madalas may hawak ng remote...pero pag nasutsutan ng reyna, kailangan nya i-surrender...or else!...heheheh...so i say: the hand that rocks the cradle, rules with the remote, too...
i always dig your wit talaga, kaibigan...heheh..kudos!
You are just a bottomless pit of witty ideas. Let's have some brain surgery and give me half of yours! Well done...again! Naiinggit na yata ako. I have all these papers and stuff that I have yet to use. My daughter wants to know if my latest hobby is collecting scrapbooking paper.
Sinabi nyo pa... idol ko yang si Lee pagdating sa wit nya. One, magaganda na nga ang mga LO nya. Pero lalo pa nagiging mas maganda at interesting once you hear from her the story behind it. Doon, nagkakaroon na talaga nang buhay ang work nya dahil na rin siguro na nakukulayan ng personalidad nya.
hi lee. even in your blog, you delight me in your thoughts and writings. and this layout pose yet another of your witty style. very very unique, always were...i love your pictures always, there is always meaning in there.. your layout about remote control really made me smile and think twice that maybe its time to switch "on" our tv na this time. heheheh.
Lee, your page looks awesome! I love the little photos of all the shows your family watches. Love the title - reminds me of the title of one of my favorite movies :) Oh, hey, I grew up to Sesame Street and Electric Co., too! ;)
Lee, so creative. The collage you have going on up there is really something! I love TV too.
