Havin Fun

Donna says, Kaya!

Another one of those 1-hr layouts I made. Marj, your challenges make me scrap faster than I usually do heeheeDid this right after I got home from Jane's birthday sale (Rekindled Moments), just ate dinner and went ahead in my scrap room to finish this 2-pager.Journaling: 0406We were invited to a bday party in Jollibee Green Meadows. Eventhough we just got from a summer outing the same day, it was a surprise that Cheska still enjoyed the party. But she cried when she saw the Jollibee mascots hehehe The theme of the party was Justice League, hence the Wonder Woman paper tiara/crown (whatever it is called).

Materials/Technique: Bazzill cs, KI Memories papers and epoxy embellishments, Chatterbox letter stickers, Staedtler pen for journaling and doodling.

Sweet Thing

Donna says , KAYA!

I'm posting with a disfunctional monitor... it's color green right now and I have no idea how my layout looks like after cropping it in AP. Again, I used last year's photos of my niece coz I'm trying to lessen my backlog. I make layouts in double every time, for me and for my SIL, so you might have seen these photos with these papers a long time ago (last year is a long long time already when it comes to scrapbooking stuff lol!).. Anyways, here's my take on the first challenge. Thanks for looking!!!

In time

Donna says, Kaya!
I thought I'd never make it!!! :D
Anyways, my layout is a "bit lighter" than the previous entries. It's about having a husband who's an overseas worker AND who's coming home very soon. Even my journaling is much lighter. I don't want to dwell too much on how my husband's distance really affects me. I just see this phase in our married life as a milestone, because so far so good :) And, I'm praying everyday that it stays that way. I used clock to symbolize both our time/distance apart and the waiting for his home-coming :) Thanks for looking! :)

Journaling:
"..we will be together again after quite a long time. everyday that passes by brings us closer to that day. when you left to work abroad, it didn't sink in until a couple of months went by. i never showed how much i was missing you already the day you left. i was even picking a fight while we were on our way to the airport. i guess that was my way to fight off the dreadful loneliness and the fear for you going away to a strange foreign country. i wasn't afraid you'd fool around, i trust you so much it never crossed my mind. i know how much you are sacrifing so we can have a good future. i know too that i am one of those lucky wives to have such a loving and generous husband like you. i am counting the months, the days, the hours that i'd see you and feel your embrace again. no more scheduled chats, no more limited calls. in time, you are coming home dad. i love you so much..."

To my husband, age 33, to be opened on 12-2011

Donna says, Kaya!
Making this layout made me miss my husband even more. I was looking for a recent photo of us together. I only found the one I used here which was taken almost two summers ago. This also made me think how seldom we have our photos taken together, so that would be on top of my to-do list.
Here is my take for this month's challenge.... Thanks for looking!

Journaling:
12-2011
Dear Dad,
Happy 20th anniversary!!!! :D
Though that's not how long we're actually married, I'm still so happy and thankful that we are still together after all these years! I wish us both good health and may we be as strong as ever, so that no matter what comes our paths malagpasan natin un. Let us keep God the center of our marriage. Know that you have my love, respect, trust, loyalty and understanding...and I hope you do the same to me (I know you will).
If in case by this time finally nabiyayaan na tayo ng isang cute baby girl or boy, I know we are being good parents to our child. But if wala pa rin, okay lang :) I know we're still happy and contended with each other.
I always remember the words you said when I asked if by fate I won't be able to give you a child...sabi mo, that's not gonna be a problem, you'd still love me the same..besides, swerte ka na nga kse two in one na ko-mommy na baby pa hehehe I think pinapatawa mo lang ako but I know, I can feel in your voice that you mean every word you said. Naiyak nga ako diba :D
Again, happy anniversary my gwapong asawa! :D (as we always tell each other, love our own hehehe)
Always keep in mind I love you and that's forever...
(heart)lots,
Bebe

do you still REMEMBER these

Donna says, KAYA!

The first thing that came in my mind when I knew about this month's challenge, were the "love letters" my husband and I gave each other waaaayyyyy bacckkkk when (smiles). From candy or chocolate wrappers to tags of pants to perfume sample (like those in magazines where you can sample the smell of the perfume hehehe I don't know what it's called) to just anything.. we write each other love notes :) My friend and barkada who happened to be his sister ("RETO-RETO" days!!), was our "MAIL GIRL" hehe We just bribe her (wink*wink) and voila! Instant mail delivery! lol!! (love you SIL!!)

Anyways, the first idea was to use only one photo and some of our "letters" in my layout. But as I was browsing through the box where I put our "loveletters", I came across some photos I didn't realize were there. I decided then that I had to put those. I want the layout to come out like showing a "timeline" of our journey together. It didn't turn out like the way I had mind but I am still happy of the result :) Thanks for looking!

Journaling:

"It all started in 1991.. we give each other letters and knick-knacks EVERYDAY. If one of us fail to write even a short letter or note, we get ma like the usual "lover's quarrel" (talk about teenage lovers lol!!!). But come to think of it, I'm sure glad we did all those "corny" love letter stuff. I LOVE browsing through them, it reminds me all the things we promised one another. I hope you REMEMBER 'em too :) ~ love, donna"

Materials:

We are memory keepers, Prima flowers, Doodlebug designs/Karen Foster/Xyro silver brads, MM clear gloss, American Crafts Slick writer pen,Tim Holtz DI Frayed Burlap and Fired Brick, ribbons, DMC thread and transparency (from last PS EB used FP stamp c/o Mod Au with stazon black ink). *plastic used to envelope letters- from my Thermoweb foam tapes (is it acid-free???)

Techniques:

Distressing (sanding and inking), stitching, doodling.

About Me:

I am Donna Espiritu. 30 years old, married. I'm a very simple person and a homebody. Other people find me "suplada" as first impression but I am really shy (yes yes I am!). Well, that's what my old friends tell me I just don't know now :) hehehe

the Story of Pamela doll

Donna says, KAYA!

This is what I call RUSH!!! Been so busy with important stuff and I had to go home as fast as I could just to MAKE a layout for Kaya 3 (I'm still panting as I am typing this!!)
This is a layout about my niece's doll, Pamela. TFL! :)

Journaling:
"Your doll's real name is ERIKA, we just renamed her PAMELA because MAMA DALLY's and my favorite PBB2 housemate, Gee-ann, has a doll named PAMELA :) Eversince then, you never let your doll out of your sight. Wherever you go, even to the bathroom/toilet, you like to take her with you. I think you love her so much..you even bathe her in the toilet bowl! hehe :)

You really are sweet, you know that? :) (heart)lots~T.Donna"

Materials/Techniques:
MME Bohemia pp, Fancy Pants pp, MM foam stamps, MM paint and clear glaze, Tim Holtz DI Fired Brick, American Crafts and Staedtler pen, brown ribbon.

Cut almost 5x7 Fancy Pants floral pp for matting and some flowers from Fancy Pants pp to match. Adhered and stamped on the far left and lower right corners and dotted the edges of the stamped image to enhance it a little bit. Adhered the brown ribbon first before placing the cut flowers which were glazed and curled the tips to give some flair. As usual, I handcut the letters of the title from chipboard, painted it white and handwritten the letters on the "blocks" then dabbed DI before topping it with clear glaze. Wrote the journaling after.

About ME:
I am Donna Espiritu (or Donna Ong, to some~long story behind this one, maybe I should scrapbook it hehehe), married but no kids yet. I'm a scrapbook addict but not a scrapaholic (hmm???) I am moody but I prefer making other people feel comfortable around me so I usually set aside that part of my personality :)

True Friend

This digital layout is about me and one of my closest friends, Vicky. We've been through a lot of hard/tough times together. Lots of laughter and tears, always honest with everything we tell each other even if it hurts as long as its the truth. We finish each other's sentences as if we know what's going on each other's head. Here's a little tribute to our friendship... TFL!

Journaling Reads:
"Of all the friends I have, you are one of the most influential to me. I was a young, naive woman and you taught me how to be brave. You showed me how to be a fighter and I learned how to survive. When I stumbled and messed up, you were there when I was picking up the pieces of myself. You patiently listened to my woes even if I was like a broken record. You let me decide for myself, let me be who I am and what I wanted to be and still, never failed to tell me to be careful. Funny, we don't call each other bestfriends. Maybe it's just a name or a label, I don't know. But what I'm certainly sure about is we are friends to its truest meaning."

Materials used:
All elements my own design except the flower, stitches and the bling (re-color, ACOT_Circle of Friends and SpringFling elements). Fonts Beautiful ES and Book Antiqua. Software used Adobe Photoshop 7.

Techniques used:
I started with a black background, dabbed white dots (used graph/ruler for correct alignment) and used a lot of different brushes to create a "distressed look." There were a lot of "distressing" black and white layers until I achieved the desired look I wanted. The two circle matts (black and striped b/w papers, that is if you can see the "striped paper") were also products of the same procedures I used to create the background "paper." Made the circle text by copying "a true friend i will always treasure" text 3x and aligned it in circle form. The butterfly is a brush in dissolved opacity (or whatever you call that). Again, dabbed brushes to form the white areas for the journaling. Photos edited to black and white.

About ME:

Love of Reading

Donna says, KAYA!

My first digital layout for public viewing.

I started to love reading when I was in Grade 6. My first paperback to read was Sydney Sheldon's Bloodline - a very adult thing to read for a 6th grader! I shifted to Robert Ludlum (read: at Grade 6) and got hooked. Alongside with that, I also used to read Sweet Valley Hight & Sweet Dreams paperbacks. That's also when I started liking Danielle Steel and other Harlequin writers. I don't give away my books (unless someone really special asked for it) but I misplace some of them. As of now, my fave author is Nora Roberts. In general, I love romance with a twist of suspense, action and almost anything about mystical or magical stories like the Harry Potter series. So, I really don't know which one to choose it's hard for me I love them all like babies!

Journaling: Books by these authors are my all-time fave. I've been collecting these since HS. I can't choose which one I love best. May it be romance, suspense, sci-fi, mystical or magical stories, it's always as if I'm there in the middle of the story, feeling...living it. May 2007

Materials and Techniques Used: Digital kits - Going West_WW (CT Freebie), Circle of Friends _ACOT, SpringFling_ACOT, Fenderskirts flower image from Scrapbooks Answers CD, Discovering_WW. Used Adobe Photoshop 7 to edit the photo.
