Kaya! Eight

It took me a while to upload this month’s challenge because I was a bit intimidated about introducing our challenger. I asked her if there was anything she would specifically want me to mention about herself and she said, that it’s all up to me. Now, that’s a tall order that I met with trepidation. Gave me sleepless nights, I tell you. And then I realized, she needs no lengthy introduction at all. She is after all a very well-known scrapbooker published in the leading scrapbooking magazines in the U.S. Google her name and you will find hundreds of websites extolling her virtues as a card and scrapbook designer.

Our challenger is a scrapbooking/paper crafts designer & instructor with hundreds of published artwork. She is a 2008 BHG Scrapbooks etc. Creative Team Member, 2007 Paper Crafts Magazine's 1st Gallery Idol (we had a lot of fun voting for her, didn’t we?), Fiskars Fifteen designer, 2006 Memory Makers Master, 2005 Paperkuts Power Team Member. I am sure you all know who I am talking about now. (Nita, are you sitting down comfortably or did you just fall down to the floor? LOL). It’s none other than our fellow Pinoy Scrapbookers member, (drum roll, please) VALERIE SALMON.

But I do have to tell you that Val, as she likes to be called, is a very warm and generous person. We’ve exchanged a few e-mail and those qualities really shone through. How else would I have had the guts to invite her to participate in our Kaya! Challenge? And as they say in Filipino, hindi ako nag-dalawang salita. I only had to ask one time and she was all for it.

“It” is a handmade card sketch perfect for this Christmas holidays. Show us your creative interpretation of the sketch, using at least a 5x7 card size. You can use any materials you want but you should include a family photo. Not just a photo of yourself or your children, but of the whole family. Because, after all, isn’t that what Christmas is all about?

Deadline of submissions is on December 28, 2007, 11:59 PM, Philippine time. Voting for favorite cards is on December 29 – 30. For this challenge only, we will have a special prize for most number of cards made based on the sketch. You can send in your entries as soon as they are done (no need to wait until you complete a pile), we will count the total number of cards by December 23. Why December 23, because you need time to send out those many cards you made, that’s why.

Happy Holidays everyone!
