One Fine Day

Tes says, KAYA!

This is my first time to join the KAYA challenge and I would like to say thank you to Danielle for the wonderful kit and most especially to Dianne for hosting this challenge. I had been hibernating from the (digi) scrapping forums ever since my dad passed away last year because I couldn't get myself to do it. I scrap mainly for my family and myself but I know being part of the forums and participating in challenges help motivate me to improve my layouts. I had already finished my LOs and have been procrastinating on sending it. It was just really difficult. The big challenge for me was to finally hit that SEND button and go for it. So here I am with two LOs, stepping out of my box and saying to myself finally, Kayang kaya kaya sumali ulit? (sabay pikit at lunok) KAYA!

Layout #1:

One Fine Day

This is my dd in front of Taal Vista. We celebrated her birthday here last year. She's not really grumpy. I asked her to pose this way and she did. :)

Journaling:
"Don't let this picture fool you. This is where we celebrated your 5th birthday and you just had your fill of chocolate cake. I think you wanted just a little bit more"

Materials Used:
Everything from Danielle Young's Springtime Feelings Kit
Fonts : Amelie, Crack Babies, FG Cathie's Hand

Techniques Used:
Used PSCS3 to:
Create layers and apply manual shadows
Recolor the flower stickers
Apply texturizer on the red and striped paper
Cut out the circle frame using the marquee tool
Wrap the blue ribbon around the frame using the eraser

Cut out the yellow mat for the number using the magic
wand tool
Blend the flowers to the journaling paper using
blending modes

Layout #2

Midsummer Night's Dream

This excerpt was in a Baby Einstein video that my kids watched while they were growing up.

Journaling:
(excerpt from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream)

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
with sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.

There sleeps Titania
sometime of the night
Lull'd in these flowers
with dances and delight

Materials Used:
Everything from Danielle Young's Springtime Feelings Kit
Fonts : Amelie

Techniques Used:
Used PSCS3 to:
Create layers and apply manual & preset shadows
Recolor the flower stickers
Cut out the photo corners using the marquee tool
Blend the main photo into the background using

Apply filters and other blending modes to main photo
Select and cut out the leaves, stem, flower centers
using the magic wand tool
Cut out the tree and branches from the brown striped paper

About Me:
My name is Tes Pedrosa-Tirol ('teys' in blogs/scrap forums). I'm a homeschooling SAHM to my two kids, Kai (8), and Aemu (5) and have been married for almost 10 years. I started out as a paper scrapper in 1998 for my first child because I didn't have a lot of pictures of myself growing up and I wanted my child(ren) to be able to look back and remember not just their pictures but my thoughts and my sentiments for them as well. I've kept diaries for as long as I remember and scrapbooking was the perfect way to combine their pictures and my journaling. This was my visual diary for them. I have switched to digital because I find it more convenient. Maybe when I finally have my own creative space just for me (who knows when?) LOL, I'll be able to do both.

This is an amazing LO, Tes. The picture is breathtaking, the expression on the girls' face is very well captured. Is she Aemu? Lovely name, too:-) Very, very beautiful!
