Letter to: Eric, (15 years old) to be read on your High School Graduation

Ching says, KAYA!

This is my second entry to Kayang-Kaya Kaya? Challenge. I think this is the right time to write a letter to my son. Eric has completed one year of High School and has three more years of High School before graduation.

The top photo shows Eric at six months of age, while the other was taken on his 15th birthday. He is 5'7" tall and weighs 154 lbs. He is fond of working-out, and is a member of wrestling and weightlifting sports in his school.

Journaling:
This letter is for you, to be read on your graduation day. What you've accomplished took a lot of hard work and personal sacrifice. I'm proud of you! Love, Mama (April 8,2008)

The letter:

Dear Anak,

I can't describe the range of feelings for you as you graduate from High School. I am proud, of course! You've accomplished so much in your 18 years. You've grown into a young man, energetic and sports minded. It seems like it was only yesterday that I held you in my arms. You were so tiny with wavy hair and crying loud for milk. The day I left you to go to work abroad, I felt depressed and always cried in the middle of the night. I've loved you before you were even born. I loved you throughout the years, I love you now, and I'll always love you.

We had our ups and downs and our differences. I made mistakes, trying to raise you after divorcing your father. But through it all, through the shouting, tears and angers, you have always been in my heart.

But, I got through with the help of your stepfather. From that time on, you've had a good life. Today, you're a young man, handsome, smart and graduating from High School. I remember the day when your stepfather and I put you on the bus on your first day of school. I thought then of the year, 2011, the year you would graduate. It seemed so very far away. Now it is here!

I hope by the time you read this letter, your honor point average and your extra curricular and your community activities will allow you to matriculate in the college of your choice. We have tried to provide you, today, a brighter future tomorrow, by investing in Florida Prepaid College Plan.

Your father and I have tried to raise you with a love for God. We remembered looking forward to your Confirmation, hoping it would enhance your life in a way to express both our Christian values and beliefs.

And for all your hard work and all that you’ve done, you deserve this great day. As you face a bright future and new challenges, you should know one thing… We’re proud of you!

CONGRATULATIONS !

I Love you my son, and I always will !

Mama

About ME:
My name is Ching, a stay at home mom to a 15 years old son and married to a wonderful man. We live on the Southeast coast of USA. I started scrapbooking in 2004, but like most, I have more supplies than pages, done. I eagerly began scrapping again when I joined the PinoyScrapbookers group in January, 2008 and quickly did some albums of layouts for my family. I love to make double layouts with 2 to 4 photos each.

Hi Ching, grabe, napaluha naman ako sa sulat mo. So very touching, thank you for sharing your story to us. There are things we cannot articulate verbally in our relationships but I am sure your son will treasure this forever, because it shows how much you love him. PS - wag ka magagalit, but I wondered about the small pic - akala ko sister niya. Hahaha. Curly-haired pala siya nung bata. Ang cute!!!

Hi Lee, Thanks! Eric is my only child. Yah...he looked like a girl dahil sa buhok nya but, he got a hair-cut on his first birthday.

My weakness is I am having a hard time expressing what I feel in this way... good on you! Incorporating his baby picture there is a great idea, it really shows you had a deep thought whilst writing the letter.
