three WISHES ain't enough

Alby says, KAYA!

Finally, I was able to buy ink and photo paper last Saturday so I was able to print the photo I wanted for this layout. The photo I chose was taken last April 2007 at Malapascua Island in Cebu. It was a picture of myself gazing into the horizon which I thought was apt for this layout since this is about my wishes for the year. I have a lot of wishes, some are well within my control, others are not quite all up to me (see #10). Some are easier to do, some will take a bit more self-discipline. Definitely, three WISHES ain't enough!

Journaling:
I WISH…
1. to strengthen my faith in God and deepen my relationship with Him through daily prayer and reflection on His Words. I will seek His will in my daily life and surrender all my cares to Him. 2. to become a better steward of God’s abundant blessings. I will use my scrapbooking budget wisely, making sure I would buy only the things I can use. I will scrap at least 3 layouts for every P1,000.00 spent on scrapbooking items so that I won’t become a hoarder. 3. to take better care of my body as it is the temple fo the Holy Spirit. I will make healthier food choices and exercise more. I will lose at least 20 lbs. through natural means. 4. to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation by visiting at least one new destination this year and try one new activity. 5. to celebrate my friendships by being better connected to old and new friends. I will remember their birthdays and make sure that I greet them on the day itself. 6. to learn a new skill like scuba diving, or wakeboarding, or take voice lessons, and maybe even dancing. 7. to make our house a more comfortable dwelling place. I hope to renovate the kitchen and my scrap area. 8. to double our savings this year. 9. to buy a DSLR & hone my photography skills. 10. to get pregnant this year.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock – DCWV; Patterned Papers – Daisy D’s, Autumn Leaves; Flowers – Prima, Bling – K&Co.; Chipboard Letters – American Craft Thickers; Rub-on Tape – Daisy D’s; Pen – Staedler Triplus; Ink – Versa Magic; Adhesives – Glue Dots, Elmer Craft Bond; Template – The Crafter’s Workshop (Swirls and Flowers)

Techniques Used:
I did a lot of cutting in this layout which I enjoyed but it took so much time. I added some paper flowers and bling for texture and sparkle, making me want to touch the page over and over again. For the title, I use the chipboard that came with the Studio Azul November Kit. I applied the rub-on tape that also came with the kit. I “distressed” the rub-on a bit by lightly sticking Scotch tape on the chipboard and lifting it up several times to remove portions of the design. It gave a sanded look without distressing the chipboard itself. I just wrote the other parts of the title to put emphasis on the word “WISHES.” I chose the title because I definitely have more than three wishes this year. I also used a template for my journaling block. I just erased the lines after writing my journaling.

What I love most about this layout are the flower pieces extending out of the cardstock. I had to trim the cardstock a bit so the layout would still fit a 12 x 12 page protector even with those flowers peeking out of the cardstock.

About Me:
Hi I'm Alby! I'm married to my very indulgent hubby, Ariel, who is also my number one fan in scrapping. Been scrapping since 2005 but only got to know about acid-free scrapping since last year. I love scrapping because it helps me showcase my photos creatively. It is my stress buster and my "me time". Lately, I've tried a bit of painting on some of my layouts and I enjoy it a lot. I'll try to incorporate a bit of painting in my future layouts. You may see some of my work at my blog.
